Clocking In Machines

Do clocking in machines still pack a punch?

Well, no one’s calling time just yet. As clocking in machines still remain a favourite piece of HR equipment used by all types of businesses across the UK. Specifically, a small percentage of business owners / managers perhaps more ‘old school’ & not particularly software oriented, prefer the ease of implementation by recording employees hours using clocking in cards.  Which is certainly a vast improvement over manual timesheets.

Their simplicity in daily use is another factor, since clocking in cards are kept in the clock card holder / rack next to the clocking in machine. Enabling the passing supervisor to make an on the spot visual inspection of employees attendance.  And if necessary, make adjustments or notes directly onto the time card.

First step towards more sophisticated solution

It seems clocking in machines will always have their place and may never go out of fashion. But for most companies, clocking in machines are often the first step towards more sophisticated software driven clocking in systems solution.  That makes the whole task of payroll preparation much easier. Without the ongoing cost of having to purchase clocking in time cards, plus the mundane job of having to manually work out the weekly payroll for every employee.  Which in the final analysis can produce inaccurate results, more often than not.  So clocking in machines are often used as a short term option, before upgrading to a PC linked clocking in system.

For example; TimeVue-lite, our entry level software driven attendance system makes lite work of payroll preparation, feeding back often important information in real time. Whereas time card anomalies / disputes that arise from using clocking in machines, generally don’t come to light until late in the day. Usually at the end of the week or month when the clocking in time cards are being processed for payroll. The low cost of clocking in machines may also seem attractive, but any perceived value is soon overtaken by the administrative work involved.

Timed to perfection

We don’t mean to hit on clocking in machines we just want to give you the full picture…that’s how we roll at facetime.  In the true spirit of that, since we don’t manufacture clocking in machines, we only offer machines produced by brand names such as Seiko and Max Corporation. Tried and trusted manufacturers with decades of experience in producing quality clocking in machines that have the flexibility and longevity to suit all applications and working environments. And of course, to ensure a trouble free start in helping small businesses get their feet off the ground.

The Seiko  job clock….just the job

There’s a second type of clocking machine that is used to record the amount of time an employee spends on a particular job operation. Also popular with NHS hospitals, where a time & date stamp is used to record specimen samples. These are called time & date stamp printers or job clocks when used in garages or workshops.

Similar in function to clocking in machines, their electro-mechanical design requires a job card or record sheet to be inserted horizontally. These types of clocking in machines allow a choice of multiple print format options including; time, day, date, month, plus a reference code, symbol or number printing according to your time & date stamp or job recording requirements.
